This month The Spotlight focuses on Titanium Inserts used in Wave Solder Pallets. In many cases, the titanium insert makes it possible to wave solder PCB's or portions of PCB's that would not be possible using ESD composites.

As the need for smaller, more compact, multi-functional products increases, the circuit boards used in these devices become smaller and more densely populated. Often, there is only a very small space between a SMT device and a through-hole component needing wave soldering.

For this reason, titanium is inserted into the pallet in place of composite material for those densely populated areas of the PCB. Due to it's strength, titanium can be machined with thinner masking walls than composite, permitting wave solder processing of these kinds of densely populated boards. In addition, solder does not stick to the titanium, a requirement of any wave solder pallet.

Check out our Wave Solder Pallet Options and Accessories page for more information.
