PCB Depaneling Router Fixture

Depaneling Fixtures

Depaneling is the the process of separating multiple boards from a panel. Whether by manual depaneling, or use of automated methods such as lasers, saws, or routers, when complete, the individual PCB's must meet tolerance requirements for both size and edge finish. The time-consuming manual depaneling process slows down production lines and subjects PCB's to stress that can damage the boards and components. Automated processes require the individual boards within the panel to each be held securely in place to prevent PCB misalignment and damage.

The unique solution pictured above is a Depaneling Fixture designed for use with a Router depanelizing system. This particular design uses a vacuum tooling plate to securely hold each individual PCB in place. The tooling pins easily and accurately locate the panel on the tooling plate, preventing any possible misalignment. The hinged lid provided another level of security, sandwiching the little boards in place and preventing any movement after routing.

With this design , all that is required for product changeover is to slip in a different tooling plate. This minimizes tooling expense and virtually eliminates setup time.
